This coffee comes from the Tariku Coffee farms that are situated in the vicinity of the Shantawene Village. Tariku Coffee is a leading exporter of Sidama Coffee in Ethiopia. All of the farms associated with Tariku Coffee practice organic farming techniques only and are focused on delivering the highest quality coffee for local and international markets.
There are 650 farms in an average farm size of 3 ha involved in production of this lot. Coffee is harvested from October to January. Selective hand picking is practiced to achieve the greatest quality cup.
The varietal grown is indigenous heirloom, which is planted on fertile red-brown well-drained soil.
Thariku Coffee invests substantial proceeds of their operation back into the coffee growing communities, generating work and other opportunities. Part of the earnings is also used to supply books and other school materials to children from low-income families. In addition, Tariku offers training at the farm level to help growers achieve great quality and market the product of their work nationally.
