This coffee comes from Danche washing station, situated in Chelbesa, in the Gedeb Zone of Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia. The station buys coffee from about 400 smallholder farms that grow coffee on the fertile soil of the surrounding areas. The farms tend to be 1 to 2 hectares in size and are located at high altitudes ranging from 2000 to 2300 meters above sea level.

The high altitudes play a significant role in shaping the distinct flavour profile of coffee produced at the Danche station. Harvesting typically takes place later in the season, compared to the other regions, owing to the high altitudes of the coffee growing area. This prolonged cherry maturation period significantly contributes to the exceptional quality of the produce.
