This coffee comes from 2,604 smallhoder producers of Highlands Organic Agriculture Cooperative (HOAC) operating in the Purosa region of the Okapa District of Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. Growing coffee on tiny family plots averaging 0.5 hectares in 32 village communities spread over 500 square kilometres of the Purosa valley.
All coffee is grown and processes locally in the villages as the cooperative currently does not possess centralised processing facilities. The producers benefit from organic and Fairtrade practices implemented by HOAC. These growers, for whom coffee is the only cash crop, currently support about 12,000 family members.
This coffee is certified Organic.
